Description

Soif was made in Douala, Cameroon as a pre-exhibition for the 2010 Salon urbain de Douala (Sud), which is a triennial of contemporary art organized by Espace Doual’art. It was a process work where long strips of kitchen aluminum foil were folded and then burnished with different tools to give it texture. The piece stood alone in the gallery covering the 10-foot wide back wall.

Statement

The work was based on the 2010 Salon urbain de Douala (Sud) theme: water. The material and the process were central to the work. It mimics a wall of water, an abstract fountain which created an unexpected presence in the space.
