Description

I Could Eat You Alive is made of crocheted ball chain. A closed tubular shape opens up into a flower like shape. The piece can be displayed in various configurations.
It was produced in 2004 and it was never shown publicly until last year. It is part of In the Flesh / En chair et en os exhibition, November 2023 at Produit Rien.

Statement

The work is hermaphrodite, having both a phallus and a more feminine flower shape. The crocheting refers to traditional domestic feminine activities, but here a non traditional material is used, one that is found in a hardware store. The viewer is encouraged to manipulate the work, to be able to feel its weight and form it into various shapes.
