This is a series of gouache paintings on 8 x 8 inches black watercolour paper. The flat and matte qualities of the gouache complement the mate black paper.

On Black follows conceptually a series of other works, ie: Orange Flame.
The beginnings of these works can be found in Sanguine, a painting series from 2018. The ‘weave’ of the lines is tighter and more intense. Slowly the ‘weave’ opened up further to its present expression.
In all of these works the artist is drawing and re-drawing a cartographic sign embedded with the experiences of exile and emigration.
These particular works make also reference to atomic utterances, in form and shape.
