Description

Mother Tongue is a series of photographs printed on sheet lead, presented on narrow wooden shelves. They show multiple images of the artist’s face with her eyes open and closed, a close-ups of her tongue and her fingerprint.

Statement

The prints on lead presented in Mother Tongue are photographic yet strikingly rough, dark and ephemeral. They are seductive but difficult to read. The face, (mother) tongue and finger print speak of identity. The artist in considering her state of exile, exposes herself in search of her own identity.
